A Trip Down Memory Lane

3/21/2013

I'm taking a trip down memory lane while I'm waiting for my two visual novel downloads to finish. :)

Come to think of it, back then visual novel playing was something I'd just do whenever I had no new books to read, or no new anime episodes to watch.

Re; Alistair

re; alistair visual novel review

One of the first visual novels I've ever played was Re;Alistair, by sakevisual.

That game was just simply amazing! I loved the art and the story. It's sort of like a game within a game. You play as a gal who loves video games, and in one MMORPG, you meet a guy called Alistair who steals your online stuff. Of course, if you're a gamer, that's a total no-no, and you're absolutely determined to have your 'revenge' on this guy. Just then, you discover that this jerk is actually your schoolmate! You have 30 days to find the real Alistair, or else he will claim your prized item. Will you succeed?

The only thing I really didn't like was the constant grinding to get the guy you wanted, and the protagonist's name. Rui. Rui is a cute name, but that was the name of my boy classmate. =)

It was a really fun experience though. And I loved all endings! They were just so adorable. You know? Especially the ending with the bespectacled guy whose name I don't even remember anymore.

don't take in personally, babe, it just ain't your story

Another one of the earlier visual novels I've played is 'don't take it personally babe, it just ain't your story' by Christine Love.

I absolutely loved that visual novel. Teens like me can totally relate to the story. It was all about the effects of modern technology on teenagers. You play as their new teacher, and you discover that you have access to all the students' private messages. But then of course, like other stories, there is a plot twist in the end, one that I actually didn't expect.

The art was very good as well. Personally, there was nothing that I didn't like about it. Story-wise, I do think that all the other characters were quite unfair to Taylor, one of the students in the school. I think she had a very good point, although I don't like her behavior too. But personally, I think the other characters were too mean to her. :)

Ripples

And of course, who can ever forget Ripples, also by sakevisual?

That kinetic novel was very simple and quite child-like really, but it made me think. It made me think a lot, and also, it kinda changed my perspective on things. I can sort of see myself in both of the characters. The girl just wants people to be happy, believing that she can actually make a change. The protagonist, however, thinks that it's impossible to change the world with just a basket of cookies and a smile. However, the girl sort of proves him wrong when she told him that she's been giving cookies to a liter of kitties for a while now and was all like, "For these kittens, I've made a change already." Awwwww. :")

Thinking about all these is making me feel so nostalgic. Hahaha.

How about you guys? What are some of the first visual novels you've ever played? ^_^

Yes, actually, it's one of my favorite visual novels. It's also one of the first VNs I've played but I just didn't include it here because I have a review of it (that I still haven't finished writing up to now) saved in my Drafts. ^_^

    Thanks for dropping by!
